Baptism

Baptism of an older child (7 years and above) or adult
We welcome enquiries for Baptism for older children and adults. For initial enquiry please contact our parish office, for the attention of Fr. Clive. Please include your telephone number and Fr. Clive will be in touch directly to discuss further.

Baptism of an infant child

  • As a parent or Godparent you should ask yourself:
  • Are you prepared to the best of your ability to give the child a Christian upbringing within the family of Christ’s Church?
  • Will you help the child to be regular in public worship and in prayer, not only by your teaching, but also by your example and your prayers?
  • Will you encourage the child in due time to come to Confirmation and to Holy Communion?
  • It is preferable that your child is baptised in the church where you normally worship.  If you don’t live in the parish we recommend you contact your parish church to give notice that you wish to go elsewhere.  You can find your local church by putting your postcode into the search box in A Church Near You.
  • If you would like your child to be baptised at St. Clement’s please click here for an Application Form.  The Form will guide you through selecting Godparents and sponsors.  It will also help you decide which option for baptism is most appropriate for you.

At St. Clement’s we have three options.  During the 9.30am Mass on the last Sunday of the month (option A), or at a Service of Baptism at 11.30am on the second (option B) or third (option C) Sunday of the month.

Baptism Preparation. All baptism parties (parents) must attend a short preparation/rehearsal prior to the baptism.  This will be arranged with the priest conducting the service.

For initial enquiry please contact Jane in our parish office: 07884 148148 / saintclementsleigh@outlook.com
